NRS partners with DoorDash to boost local retail delivery
National Retail Solutions is teaming up with DoorDash to bring delivery services to independent merchants nationwide as a way to compete with larger chains.
As part of a newly announced collaboration, small businesses supported by the Newark-based point-of-sale (POS) platform can leverage DoorDash‘s retail API to offer seamless online ordering and delivery integration. The partnership allows retailers in NRS’ network to list their inventory online, accept orders and have DoorDash handle delivery at no extra cost to the store.
The first phase of the rollout focused on liquor retailers, whom NRS said are “seeing positive momentum through the combined capabilities.” Owners of liquor stores interested in the initiative can contact [email protected] for more information.
NRS said it plans to expand the program to bring “these shared benefits” to the broader range of retailers it serves, such as convenience stores, bodegas, grocery stores, tobacco shops and sundries sellers.
NRS President and CEO Elie Katz said, “Local communities are the soul of America and the local businesses that support them are the beating heart. This important partnership allows those businesses to thrive in the face of uncertainty, ensuring local communities flourish.”
Simplifying challenges
NRS Senior Vice President of E-commerce Ari Korman described the relationship as “incredibly beneficial.”
“Together, we’re simplifying the operational challenges faced by small, independent merchants in today’s dynamic digital environment. By collaborating, we can reduce friction and costs within a vital sales channel that many merchants rely on for business growth. DoorDash’s commitment to small businesses is central to their mission, and we deeply appreciate their partnership,” Korman explained.
Founded in 2015, NRS aims to help independent retailers compete with chain stores by providing them with affordable POS systems and retail operations technology. With thousands of active terminals across the U.S. and Canada, the custom-built POS system includes features such as inventory management, sales tracking and marketing tools, empowering store owners to compete and thrive against the competition.
Earlier this year, NRS launched a partnership with Google to leverage Google Search, Google Maps and Google Shopping to attract local customers.
